We take groups to visit Masjid Al Aqsa, the third holiest site in Islam. Unfortunately due to Covid 19 and travel restrictions there are no planned trips at the moment. For more information, contact muslimsconnectuk@gmail.com
Masjid Al Aqsa actually refers to the entire compound not a single building. The site actually consists of several mosques, such as the Buraq Mosque and the Marwani Mosque. To avoid confusion, the wider compound in which Al-Aqsa is located is usually referred to as Al-Haram Ash-Sharif (The Noble Sanctuary).
The legendary golden dome is probably the first thing that comes to mind when one thinks of Al-Aqsa. The mosque's Dome of the Rock is said to be the first dome to ever be used in Islamic architecture, before becoming a staple of Islamic mosques.
Initially made of wood, the dome was later decorated with marble pieces and a distinctive gold layer by Ottoman Caliph Suleiman the Magnificent.
If you havent been to Masjid Al-Aqsa - LET'S GO !
Did you know?
Masjid Al Aqsa is
🙏🏼The first qibla in Islam;
🙏🏼The second place of worship built in Islam (built 40 years after Kaaba);
🙏🏼The place where the Prophet Muhammad (saw) travelled to on the night of Isra;
🙏🏼The place where the Prophet Muhammad (saw) led all the other Prophets in prayer;
🙏🏼The place where the Prophet Muhammad (saw) ascended during the Miraj;
🙏🏼A place mentioned in the Quran as being “blessed” and “holy”, on numerous occasions.
Abu Hurayrah (ra) relates that the Prophet (saw) said:
“Do not undertake a journey to visit any Mosque, but three: this Mosque of mine, the Mosque of al-Haram and the Mosque of Aqsa”
[Sahih Muslim 1397]
Zaid Ibn Thabit (ra) reports that the Prophet (saw) said, “How blessed is Al-Sham”! The Companions (ra) asked, “Why is that”? The Messenger (saw) replied, “I see the Angels of Allah spreading their wings over Al-Sham”.
Masjid al Aqsa is in our hearts. Our founder Shreen, has taken many groups to Masjid Al Aqsa. She has interviewed Sheikh Yusuf Sneina, the Imam of Masjid Al Aqsa. She has hosted many events, workshops, radio shows and tv shows about Masjid Al Aqsa. She has helped write Ya Aqsa and is the creative producer. Muslims Connect is honoured to have released our very own nasheed Ya Aqsa. This is a message of solidarity and love to the people who protect Masjid Al Aqsa and the blessed lands.
